Where to keep your plugin license keys
Every vendor that sells by serial number hands you a key to keep somewhere. Email threads, a notes app and a spreadsheet are the usual answers, and none of them is private or searchable when you need a key on a new machine.
The License Key Vault
- Keys and key files. Store a serial, or attach a vendor's key file, against the vendor and plugin it belongs to.
- Encrypted on your own machine. On a Mac the vault lives in the macOS Keychain and opens with Touch ID or your account password. On Windows it lives in Credential Manager, encrypted for your user account. Keys never leave your computer and PluginHub's servers never see them.
- Searchable. Find a key by vendor or plugin, copy it, and paste it into the installer.
- Moves with you. Export the vault with a passphrase to move it to another machine, or import a plain text list of keys you already have.
- Any vendor. If a vendor is not in PluginHub's catalog, add it and file the key anyway.
iLok licenses are managed by iLok License Manager and are not stored in the vault.
